Many locals are wondering if trick or treating is going on in Chandler this year and this guide is here to give you all the answers and some tips for staying safe this Halloween.

When is Trick or treating Around Chandler and Mesa? 

Are your little ones begging to go trick or treating around town this year? Our team anticipates that this year’s Halloween trick or treating will go on as usual around Gilbert, AZ on Saturday, October 31^st from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. An official trick-or-treat time for our area has not been confirmed yet and we recommend you check in with your local public service office for up-to-date information as Halloween approaches.  

Trick or Treating Safety Tips 

If you are looking to take part in this year’s trick or treating festivities, we recommend you and your little one’s do the following when heading to town for buckets of candy.  

• Make a cloth or surgical mask a part of the costume.  
• Find a treat bag that has a long handle to keep distance between trick-or-treaters and those giving out candy. Many stores are selling these types of bags, most of which look like a long skeleton arm to keep the theme spooky. 
• Use something other than your hand to ring the doorbell – elbow, side of the arm, etc. 
• Don’t crowd doorsteps and instead have just one group of trick-or-treaters go up to the door at a time.  
• Bring hand sanitizer with you to use frequently. 

Halloween Candy Distribution Tips 

If you are staying home this year to pass out candy to local trick-or-treaters, here are some candy distribution tips to help you stay safe and healthy this Halloween season.  

• Do not touch the candy you are giving away. Instead, pour it into a clean bowl and use tongs to hand out pieces to trick-or-treaters.  
• Create a grab-bag station outside. Put together treat bags and line them up on a table or along your driveway for trick-or-treaters to grab and go. Be sure there is enough space between each bag to prevent kids from touching multiple bags on accident.  
• Create a treat chute using a PVC pipe or cardboard and a ladder. Stand at the top of the ladder and use tongs to drop candy down the chute into trick-or-treater’s bags.
