Building on its total overhaul last year, the 2023 Hyundai Tucson drives into the new model year with a lot of confidence. The 2023 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid is even more confident with its excellent fuel efficiency to bolster its reputation.
Shoppers will be interested to know that the lineup has gained more standards at many different trim levels. This adds to the value packaging for which Hyundai is well known.
You can get all the details here on hybrid and regular performance, 2023 changes, Hyundai technologies and more. Keep scrolling to learn what’s new.
What’s New for 2023 Tucson Trim Levels
By adding to the standard packages, Hyundai knew it had to up its game for the hybrids. All trims now have Smart Cruise Control, Intelligent Speed Limit Assist, and the most advanced version of forward collision avoidance. Furthermore, all HEV and PHEV models have a wireless charger and the Hyundai Digital Key.
As it was with the 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid, the Blue package is most like the SEL, ensuring that hybrid buyers start off with more. The SEL Convenience and Limited trim levels are similar to the regular trims of the same name. As such, Hybrid SEL Convenience trim levels now have nicer cabins with HTex leatherette seating and the large navigation touchscreen.
You don’t have to wait for a 2023 Hyundai Tucson sale to find a good price. San Tan Hyundai puts an emphasis on fair pricing and customer service.
What’s New for 2023 Hybrid Trim Levels
Every Tucson model has picked up new standards that are quite valuable. For instance, the Panoramic sunroof is now standard on the N Line. This makes a sporty package even more fun for its owners. It already has a more powerful engine to suit a driving enthusiast.
The hands-free liftgate, wireless charger, and Hyundai Digital Key have been added to the popular SEL trim level. Intelligent Speed Limit Control is another new SEL standard. This model is already a cut above with its 8-way power driver’s chair and heated seats.
HTex leatherette is now on the XRT and the SEL Convenience package. XRT models have added dual-zone automatic climate controls. Of course, all models have rear AC vents.
The exciting 10.25-inch color touchscreen is now standard on SEL and XRT models. This adds Dynamic Voice Recognition which makes interactions even easier.
With soft and stylish leather seats, Limited trims are still the most refined. They have ventilated front seats and a power chair for the front seat passenger. The air conditioning system gains voice control capability. Now you can just ask the car to turn up the fan or turn down the temperature. If you want it, the front and rear seats can have a power-heat function.
Infotainment Systems and Connectivity
The 8-inch infotainment screen provides connectivity to built-in apps and other functions via Bluetooth, steering wheel buttons, and on-screen menus. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are standards. Blue Link services add more ways to connect the vehicle via smartphone.
Stepping up to the larger touchscreen, the driver has a built-in navigation system. Hyundais are so advanced that GPS navigation can work with adaptive cruise control for safer travel.

Favorite Driver Assistance Features
Smart Cruise Control has stop and go capability to let you utilize it for commuting. This system slows and speeds automatically to match conditions.
New this year, cyclist detection and a junction watch are added to the automatic emergency brake along with the pedestrian watch and forward collision warning. Watching the sides, there is a lane departure warning and a blind spot monitoring device with an active avoidance assist.
A lane keep assist goes a bit further by helping the driver steer the vehicle within the lines. Standard on the Limited, the Highway Driving Assist combines adaptive cruise control, lane keeping and additional capability for a semi-autonomous ride on designated highways.
Parking Aids
All Hyundai Tucson buyers enjoy the benefits of a rearview camera and a rear cross traffic alert with an avoidance assist. These features help take the guesswork out of parking maneuvers. When equipped with front and rear sensors, the SUV adds a reverse autobrake.
Available on the top trim, Remote Smart Parking Assist is so easy. You can just push a button on your Smart Key and the SUV can pull out or into tight parking spots.
Powertrain Standards and Choices
The base engine is a four-cylinder unit that produces 187 horsepower. The torque rate is 182 lb-ft. Drivers have an 8-speed automatic transmission that provides sharp gear shifts.
Tucson Hybrid models combine a battery pack, dual electric motors, and a 4-cylinder engine. This hybrid electric vehicle generates a solid 226 horsepower for speedier travel and 258 lb-ft feet of torque for good pickup everytime. Fuel economy is 38 mpg whether it’s city or highway driving with the Hybrid Blue edition.
With the plug-in hybrid, there are two advantages. First, it generates 261 horsepower, making it the speediest of all. Second, it has an electric range where no gasoline is needed. It only requires a two-hour charge to achieve this.
All-wheel drive is standard on these models. The two motors direct power to a designated front or rear axle. In fact, the system can even direct torque to individual wheels. This is the ultimate way to get all-weather help.
Tucson Style and Quality
Car & Driver and Edmunds agree that this affordable SUV has an upscale style. This reflects the use of high quality materials and a refined fit and finish.
Ride quality is particularly good thanks to the supple suspension and ample insulation. This adds to its above-class attitude. With so little road and wind noise, Car & Driver writes, the result is a serene cabin. This is the perfect compact SUV for regular commuting and carpool duties in Phoenix AZ.
At the curb, the Tucson stands out for its unique design. Kelley Blue Book praises it for the fresh approach that avoids look-alike styling while ensuring all the practicality shoppers want from an SUV.
The body lines, aerodynamic tweaks, and careful scaling give it a much more dramatic appearance than one expects. Even at night, the light signature is distinct enough to distinguish it from other SUVs on the road.
Size, Spaciousness and Cargo Capability
Hyundai engineers made the 2022 Tucson bigger, recognizing that spaciousness is essential to comfort. Regular and hybrid cabins boast 41.3 inches of second row legroom. That’s more than some SUVs offer on the front row. The PHEV Tucson is a smidge smaller, but it still has 39.5 inches of 2nd-row legroom.
Cargo storage is expansive with 38.7 cubic feet without folding the second row. If you do fold the second row, you claim 74.8 cubic feet. The larger hold is especially useful due to the flat floor and the low liftover height.
Ground clearance is 7.1 inches with the front-wheel drive models. It grows to 8.3 inches with the all-wheel drive models, including both hybrid types. The roof rail system handles up to 220 pounds of gear, regardless of your engine choice. If you are car shopping, San Tan Hyundai dealer offers competitive financing as well as good prices.
Tucson vs the Competition
The 2023 Hyundai Tucson has many advantages over rivals. As a new generation, it has all the modern systems, ensuring it won’t go out of date quickly. It also has a big backseat and a bigger storage area than many competitors.
The 10-year powertrain warranty (up to 100,000 miles) is definitely a reason to test drive the Tucson before you consider buying the Ford Escape or Toyota RAV4. These rivals only have 5-year powertrain coverage. Plus Hyundai provides three years of scheduled maintenance.
