The 2024 Hyundai Palisade is packed with features from the very start. This review should give you an idea of how the trim levels give you true variety in style and amenities. Each has been packed with value to ensure you enjoy the very best of life in a three-row SUV.
Parents will love the many ways this vehicle takes care of their needs and their children’s needs. Budget shoppers will applaud how the entry-level package gives them all the things they need. Savvy deal-hunters will enjoy finding their favorite among the SEL packages. Luxury shoppers will get more for their money with the Calligraphy and Limited trims. Check out the new Hyundai Palisade now in this overview.
Exterior Trim Levels
Standing tall, the Palisade is a well-crafted muscular vehicle with handsome lines. LED lights include its running and position lights. For safety, it has heated side mirrors and automatic High Beam Assist. The SEL trim level wears machined wheels and roof side rails. Hyundai has made it easy to go with both a remote engine starter and a Proximity key. The Limited wears body-color wheel arches and trim-specific wheels. It also has rain-sensing windshield wipers.
The Palisade Calligraphy is the most notable of them all. It has a special grille, unique front and rear fascia, and distinctive door finishers. Puddle lamps welcome you to the vehicle and help you exit safely. There’s more premium LED exterior lighting as well.
SE, SEL Trim Levels
Hyundai starts the Palisade trim level ladder by providing the most important technologies you need in the SE entry level SUV. Eight passengers perched on comfortable seats enjoy a quieter cabin with its acoustic laminated windshield.
The one-touch second-row gives riders easy access to the third row. The third row has a center armrest and reclining capability. This bench split-folds to allow for extra cargo space if you don’t need every seat.
The SEL has large comfortable captain’s chairs on the second row. The driver will appreciate an 8-way power chair and a power sunroof. Satin chrome door handles are among the fine details added to the cabin.
The SEL Convenience adds rear sunshades and acoustic side glass. It adds dual-zone automatic climate for the front row and a second-row automatic air conditioning system. The 2024 Hyundai Palisade SEL Premium has leather upholstery, premium materials on the dash and doors, an 8-way power passenger chair, heated Captain’s chairs, and a heated steering wheel.
Limited, Calligraphy Trim Levels
When it comes to what Phoenix drivers like, the Palisades Limited and Calligraphy editions have it. Namely, front and second-row ventilated seats are standard. The Limited can brag about leather upholstery, Melange headliner, and numerous tech extras.
Stylistas love the premium Nappa leather in full color. There are several choices, but the navy and beige combination is especially striking.
Drivers appreciate the chair’s power thigh support feature. A wide dual sunroof lets in the light while rear side sunshades can keep the sun off of little faces.
Ambient lighting dresses the door and center console. Palisade Limited owners can program it with their choice of 64 colors.
The Calligraphy is even more distinctive inside and out. Some of its highlights include quilted leather door panels and microfiber suede headliner.
Limited and Calligraphy trims have been compared favorably to much more expensive luxury SUVs. It’s just another way Hyundai is packing value into every trim level.
Performance
There’s only one engine needed to power the Palisade. The 3.8 V6 GDI cranks out 291 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. Only regular unleaded is needed, which keeps costs down. Idle stop and go help reduce fuel waste during long waits.
For accurate and quick gear changes, the SUV has an 8 speed automatic transmission. Shiftronic paddles let you drive this automatic as if it were a manual.
If you upgrade to H-TRAC all-wheel drive, you’ll enjoy a system that normally operates in a front-wheel mode. For troubling road conditions, it may alter itself to a 80:20 or 50:50 setup This system has driver-selectable Downhill Brake Control, a snow mode, and an AWD lock.
Capability, Utility and Specifications
Families won't stop to measure it, but they will be glad that passenger volume is 155.3 cu ft. The layout is 2-3-3 in the SE and available on the SEL Premium. The SEL and higher trims have a 2-2-3 layout with center captain’s chairs. The LATCH layout includes three full sets on the two back rows.
Cargo capacity is 18 cu-ft -- growing to 45.8 cu-ft or 86.4 cu-ft. as the seats are folded. Second- and third-row power-fold capability is offered or standard, depending on the trim. Optional on the SEL, the hands-free liftgate is standard on the Limited and Calligraphy models.
The tow rating is 1,650 pounds without trailer brakes. However, when suitably equipped, the Hyundai SUV can tow up to 5,000 pounds.
To assist with that, some trims have an auto-leveling rear suspension. Trailer sway control is standard across the lineup.
With roof rails, the roof can handle up to 220 pounds. The ground clearance is an ample 7.9 inches.
Hyundai Technology
In addition to its touchscreen standards, the SE has multiple USB charging ports on the first and second rows. The SEL Convenience package adds a 7-inch high-resolution digital cluster behind the steering wheel. It also has wireless device charging for the driver and a USB outlet for the third row.
The SEL Premium and higher trim levels have Hyundai’s exclusive Driver Talk car intercom system. This lets parents talk to kids without turning around.
The top two trims have the 10.25-inch navigation system and a 12.3-inch full-digital instrument cluster to assist the driver. If you love your music, you’ll love 12 speakers with Quantum Logic Surround. This Harman Kardon Audio System has Clari-Fi to further refine your music.
Safety and Driver Assistance
For 2024, Hyundai has added even more standards to its driver assistance list. These include useful alerts, steering assistance, and pre collision automatic braking. These systems watch the lane lines, the blind spot on the left and ride, and the traffic ahead. The goal is to prevent accidents before they happen. It’s like having an assistant who is calculating speed, distance and other factors in real time.
Standards include warnings and collision avoidance-assist for forward collisions, pedestrians, the blind spot, rear cross traffic dangers, and lane keeping. Lane following assist is a helpful part of the SUV’s Adaptive Cruise Control.
Available on certain trims, Highway Drive Assist adds more automation to assist your driving. A Heads-up display and camera-based Blind View Monitor are exclusive to the Limited and Calligraphy.
Reassuring the family driver, the Palisade took home the Top Safety Pick Award after being tested and examined by the IIHS. The Insurance Institute has made the tests even tougher, and it's good to know that the Palisade can meet this new criteria.
