Commanding Performance

The all-new Accent features an eco-efficient 1.6L Gamma GDI engine that generates a remarkable, class-leading 138 horsepower, a full 25% more power than its predecessor. The Dual Continuously Variable Valve Timing helps improve torque and enhance fuel efficiency so you spend less time at the pump. This 4-cylinder can be coupled with a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission with SHIFTRONIC® and Hillstart Assist Control.

Six Airbags

Here's one set of features we hope you'll never see: the airbags. But it is comforting to know they're there. All six of them. The Accent is equipped with front, front side-impact and side-curtain airbags to help protect you if the unavoidable occurs.

Class-leading Standard Fuel Efficiency

Using less fuel is better for your wallet, and better for the environment. The Accent is engineered to be the class leader in standard fuel efficiency with 40 MPG on the highway for either a manual or an automatic transmission. In fact, it is an 18% improvement over its manual-transmission predecessor and greater than any competitor in its class.

Every Accent is equipped with a set of standard safety features that offer an exceptional level of protection for you and your passengers. Providing a greater degree of safety than you would ever expect to find in a car of this class.

Brake Assist

When there's a sudden sea of red tail lights ahead of you, Brake Assist can help. It senses emergency braking, and if you're not braking hard enough, will apply maximum force to help you avoid a collision.

Low Rolling Resistance Tires

The standard low rolling resistance silica tires ensure a more efficient ride. Less friction means less energy needed to get you moving.

Anti-lock Braking System

ABS is a big deal in the city and on the highway. This system helps prevent the possibility of wheel lockup under hard braking to help you retain steering control as you come to a stop.

Active Eco System

All Accent models with automatic transmission have an Active Eco System that modifies engine and transmission control for improved fuel economy. In fact, based on internal tests this system provides a 7% improvement in real-world fuel economy over vehicles without this feature.

Coefficient of Drag

The Accent 4-door has an exceptional coefficient of drag, estimated at a mere 0.30, thanks in part to the aerodynamic improvements in its design. Such improvements include its aerodynamic body, shielded tire and optimized engine undercover to help minimize resistance.

Electronic Brake-force Distribution

You can control your ride with confidence. EBD can help. This dynamic system balances braking forces at each wheel to help you maintain confident control during sudden braking.

Electronic Stability Control

When ESC senses a skid is imminent, it responds immediately, applying the appropriate amount of braking to individual wheels and adjusting throttle input. This helps keep you on your intended path.

Active Front Head Restraints

Active front head restraints actually move up and forward in the event of a rear-end collision, helping reduce whiplash-style injuries to you and your front passenger.

Seatbelt Pretensioners

The driver and front passenger seatbelts are equipped with pretensioners that automatically tighten the belts in the event of a collision, and hold you in the proper position in case the front airbags deploy.

Traction Control

Designed to prevent loss of traction, TCS detects wheel slip and applies the brakes as needed, then transfers power to the wheels that are stable.

Vehicle Stability Management System

The comprehensive Vehicle Stability Management system on the Accent links and optimizes the function of active safety features, incorporating Motor-Driven Power Steering, Electronic Stability Control, Traction Control System, and Anti-lock Braking System in potential collision situations.
